PS3 3 Beeps Problem

Hi Community

I recently brought a broken PS3 off ebay for a very cheap price except it comes with a problem. The console turns on, beeps 3 times then turns off again. Can this PS3 still be repaired or should i just chuck it? The console is a CECH-2002A and did not come with a harddrive.

Can anyone lend their expertise on how i could be able to fix this problem

Have a close look at the light just before it turns off, does it flash yellow at all(it'll be VERY quick)? Also do you have a dongle the can be used as a Factory/Service mode dongle?

I have a E3 Flasher. Does that help?

First do you have any idea what firmware it's on?

Edit: And do you have a hdd you can put in it?

nope and the guy i got it from doesnt know as well. It displays XMB and turns off. Also i recently brought a 500gb hdd for the ps3 as it didnt come with one so i dont know if thats going to help. I would assume the console is atleast above 3.55

oh ok, since it get's to xmb the way I was going to suggest won't help, can you get into recovery menu?

How to i get to recovery menu when im not on 3.55 cfw?

Hold the power button untill you hear a 3rd beep and it turns off, then hold it again untill you hear a double beep
