depends on the games and whats the update is for
but the majority of the games are ok

I think its fine with all games, really. I think the reason for updates on the psxstore was for people that didn't game online but wanted the updates. I have been updating games time and time again from console and everything is well.

Works fine 99% of the time. If it doesn't, you can always delete the update and just not update it next time.

It's ok, but isn't necessary except while playing online.

I always update my games, even tho Im not an online player. Sometimes it just fixes bugs or brings new stuff like for GT5 with the first 2 patches

Or like with fallout new vegas, where it fixed TONS of glitches.

or like Red Dead Redemption, where they were supposed fix the american and asian ps3 button layout problem, and after 5 updates...they still couldn't do it :P

Hi all!
New user here and will soon get my PS3 that I ordered the other day!

Wondering about game updates to and how it works.. As I understand you will get updates even without using PSN, you dont have to set up an account correct ?

As I dont want to use PSN at all!

HEY! wassup :P, yea your right, you dont need psn for game updates, just net conn. When you turn on a game and a update is available for it, then the ps3 will ask you,if you want to update the game or not. If you press YES, then it will quit to XMB, download and install the update and run the game agian.And if you press NO, it will skip it and run the game as it was. Thats all there's to it. Game updates dont affect anything,they just fix bugs and glitches or add some stuff..you know...depends..and they should work 99% of the time(as blazie had previously stated)...sometimes when you need to install some de-bug updates to make the backedup games on ur ps3 to work, thats when updating the game is not recommended. Apart from that, have a blast! :P

Just a request.....if you got some question, it will be high appreciated if you make another thread and not hi-jack someone else's, its fine as long as the answer to the thread has been given and then you ask. Hope you enjoy it here
