Just wondering about PS2 backups.. –
If it's possible to create a Param.sfo, i have tried to launch a backup on my original fat console (longshot i know, but doesn't hurt to try) using the latest Multiman, it transfers ok and displays in Multiman with the correct name as a PS2 game.. but says Param.sfo not found when i try to launch the game.
Is there a way to create the Param.sfo or another workaround that may possibly work?
Not yet. Hopefully in the future. For now, just continue using your modded ps2 (or buy one for $40 if you don't have a working one), or use the magic disc method to boot burned ps2 games on the ps3. That method doesn't even require a jailbroken ps3.
magic what?...how does it work??..fill me in!! i wanna play san andreas!
I want to know as well. Can this "magic disk" be download off the internet or do I have to purchase?

It involves tricking the ps3 into believing that the disc is original by passing the initial anti-piracy check with a real disc, then changing the disc in the tray without alerting the ps3 to an open/close tray event, which triggers another anti-piracy check. By doing that, the files on the burnt disc can be played without having to pass the anti-piracy checks. It still requires that you have a PS3 that is able to read and play PS2 games. So for anyone not paying attention: IT ONLY WORKS ON BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE PS3s. IF YOUR PS3 IS NOT A PHAT BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE UNIT, DO NOT TRY THE GUIDE BELOW...
I personally have a ceche01 ps3, so the method would work on mine if I ever felt like doing it. I still have a working ps2 though, so there's no need.
Edit: I was confusing the methods in my head when I said magic disc before. The disc swap method is for ps3s, the magic disc method is for ps2s.
