hey guys i recently bought a new ps3 yesterday and the stock hdd came with a 3.50 update, now my ps3 is on 3.50 but i am not really sure if i can use the normal downgrade method that everyone has been posting. Since this is a stock hdd (which originally came with a 3.50 version ) i was wondering if i could downgrade normally or is that impossible?

Im pretty sure that you can downgrade any 3.50 installation. Use explained method in the Tutorial section of the forum to downgrade.

There are some 3.50 consoles that do not downgrade actually. Still to be discovered the reason they don't.

To downgrade you actually need to put your PS3 into service mode. To do this you have to program your programmable usb device to act like a Sony's JIG device that they have at the service centers. Then, by attaching this self-made JIG device to the usb and power-and-eject your PS3, you're making it look for the JIG device and force it to enable service mode when it finds it. Then, by inserting a USB flash drive with a lv2diag and a PUP update file on startup, the console executes the lv2diag in service mode and flashes the firmware with the provided PUP which is 3.41 in our situation. After that, you have to put another lv2diag program into the USB flash drive to force PS3 to come out from service mode. Then you're all set. Dont forget to backup if you have save games as this procedure resets your ps3

    Hi el_cid.

I've tried a 3.42 but without success. The green Led start blink and the PS3 never downgrade...

You can try your luck, it's safe!

hey, i guess our question are related. Did you try upgrading to 3.50 and downgrading back to 3.41? Even so, i think you should wait for a proper "hack" to be released to the public for stock 3.42/3.50 firmwares.

No, is not true. I've downgrade 2 consoles (1 Fat and 1 Slim) with successfull, but at this moment I've one new (comes with 3.42) that the downgrading doesn't work...

I would upgrade to 3.50 and downgrade from there. or better still wait for the 3.55 to get backup compatability which is very close.
