Im not 100% sure if this is the right area to post this, so I apologize if its not. But, I need some help here.

Whenever im playing certain games, actually about half of my games... I get weird graphical problems. They vary from game to game... some will be colored squares, popping in and out, some will just be flashing of certain textures, that flash between the normal colors and black/white, etc. Random textures popping out of places. Just funky stuff basically. Games it generally happens with - Uncharted 2, GTA 4, Red Dead, Skate 3... um. Im sure theres more, those are just the main ones that come to mind.

BUT. After about 15 mins, it'll stop. It happens when I use standard AV cables, when I use HDMI cables, no matter what tv in the house im using. And itll happen regardless of how long the consoles been on, whether or not a fans blowing on it keeping it cool, whether im playing from a backup or from an original disc, regardless of anything basically.

I called Sony, and they told me to boot into safe mode and restore system data (which scared me to do, I was worried of bricking or losing jailbreak)... but alas it didnt help. They told me to find the reciept since its under warranty still and send it in. Idk where that is off the top of my head, hopefully I still even have it, cause I dont wanna pay to have it repaired.

So. In the meantime while I look for the reciept, I was wondering if anybody knows what could be wrong? Or if theres anyway to fix it myself and not have to send it in. Without voiding the warranty, or at least breaking the warranty seal on it. lol

Its nice that the problem goes away after 15 mins or so. But... its still a problem nonetheless.

Also: this has been happening since before I jailbroke my console

Try formatting your hard drive, but I doubt it will work. What your seeing are called artifacts. They usually appear when a graphics card is overclocked too high, or when it starts to go bad. From the sounds of it, you need to get your ps3 in for service as soon as possible.

Didn't think the format would. I was pretty certain that the graphics chip was going bad. I've had it happen with 3 graphics cards I burnt out with ridiculous overclocks.

I'm actually surprised that the gpu went without a ylod, since both issues are primarly caused by heat.
