Hey everyone, first time poster, long time lurker. I decided to go back to OFW 3.55 after a lot of consideration and thinking. So I did my research and compiled steps to get back to OFW 3.55 and go back on the PSN without risk of a console ban; hopefully. So please tell me if I messed up somewhere.

    1) Wipe history and logs with Wipe History ver 2.
    2) Flash OFW 3.55 over CFW 3.55 through USB flashdrive in recovery or directly.
    3) Remove HDD and do a format/wiping of all data. (Well of course keeping saves)

So this is my plan, do you guys believe this is good enough to get safely back on PSN without fear of a console ID ban or should I take more precautions and steps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    What I did was:
    Delete all backups
delete all homerew apps (except wipehistory)
delete my MW2 Savegames (idk if this is necessary but i did it )
delete everything that shouldnt be on your harddrive like "MW2_Game"-Folder for eboot-patches and stuf like that

after that I've used Wipe History to delete logs, etc and then deleted Wipe History itself (i guessed it would be good if it is deleted too)

    then 3.55 OFW -> done

You may call me a ***** now - I've done all that 2 days after they have send this e-mail a while back and i didnt got banned

Sounds about right to me, Personally I deleted homebrew apps then updated to ofw. I never had a console ban. be warned about your saves, some games like Killzone 3 and gt cannot be tranfered from account to account I could not add to my trophys on killzone and could not play my gt5 save.

Cool, thanks a lot guys. So I guess I'll just delete all of my homebrew stuff first then run Wipe History right after and just to be extra safe I'll just completely delete everything off the HDD through formatting.

    i think

    Wipehistory
    formatting
    installing 3.55 OFW

would be sufficient but you can't be too careful with Sony these days

Thanks for the response. One more quick question, When I flash back to OFW 3.55 can I just use the PS3's Format Utility to clear everything off the HDD or would using a SATA enclosure and formatting on a computer be safer?

Well, I've backed up all the games I borrowed from friends and played and beat all of them so there is not much left me to play. And with upcoming RPGs I thought it was about time to revert back. Also my three of my friends have multiple PS3's on 3.55 and lower so it isn't a problem if I ever wanted to go back to CFW.

As long as the HDD gets formatted with Fat32 it shouldnt mak a difference (I'm not sure f there are special partions on the HDD like at Windows [100mb system-partition])
if you want to be 100% safe format it with your PC and you will be fine
