FTP Transfers = Crashed PS3
FTP Transfers = Crashed PS3 –

Hey guys,
Much appreciate this site, and all members for all the information supplied
Was wondering if I could grab some of your knowledge on the following:
I've recently jailbroke my PS3 with 3.55 Kmeaw, and installed Rogero and Multiman as my BM's. I couldn't get the FTP on these backup managers to work (not sure of the login details, if any, and 'anonymous' didn't work) - So I downloaded and installed Blackb0x FTP.
I managed to transfer a 1GB game over to the PS3 last night through Blackb0x, and boot the game fine - no problems!
Today, I power up the PS3, can connect into it fine - start transferring a game over (7GB total) and about 3 minutes into the transfer - my console crashes and does not respond on the network or via my controller - i have to hard reset the console.
I then downloaded the OpenPS3FTP app, installed this, start transfer the folder over using this FTP program, and again the console crashed after 3 minutes of transfer.
Any ideas at all guys?
I have 40GB spare on the HDD. Checked the game files and theres no single files over the 4GB mark.
Cheers! <3

Transfer games over with memory-sticks its easier, I don't even know how to do ftp so I can't help you with that. I do know its quite easy to transfer games through a usb memory stick tho.

What FTP client are you running on your pc? I've heard problems with filezilla when dealing with many directories. I personall use flashfxp and haven't had any problems with it.

I use SmartFTP.
I could try using another client, but I wouldn't of thought the client would have been able to cause the actual PS3 to crash?

Anything's possible, and trying another client is quick, easy, and free. Might as well try to remove that possiblity from the list of reasons its crashing, unless someone has a better idea.
As far as the program to try, I'd say go with flashfxp. Someone here refered it months ago and I've been using it since, with not 1 problem.

I've tried filezila, and got the same problem. I'll try that flashfxp program later when i get home.
Anyone got any more suggestions? Would it maybe be worth formatting the PS3 HDD?

Just to update you guys, the problem guts weirder!
I just transferred GT5 from the PS3 to my PC over FTP (13GB). And this didn't crash at all, it's fine. I then deleted it from the PS3 and transferred it back to the PS3 from my PC, without any problems at all!
When I try and transfer a different game - it crashes in a minute. It only likes some games being transferred to it o.O

Wow, your right. This is a weird one. Is there a chance you PS3 is getting really hot and shutting down? Or maybe your ps3 hard drive is starting to fail and getting bad sectors. Are you having any other weird issues or just when ftp'ing? Remove the password on your router (someone else had a problem that was fixed by that), and try that new openftp app.
