    Hello there,

    EDIT:
ok, so now using flashfxp (filezilla was the problem) I can connect right away but.... it is too too slow! I have the port open, no firewall or something like that blocking, a good router (smc 54Mbps)... and still, with ethernet cables (forget wireless) i get 500kb/s... which, you do the math, would take a day or so to transfer the big games (which are almost the only reason a person uses this)...
is this normal? what could it possibly be?

    Thanks anyways ;)

    why port 21
TCP Port 21 is for FTP connections. It may be blocked on Your System so you may have to check whether it's blocked or not.
On windows OS. Press Windows+R on your desktop, you will be prompted with a Little screen usually called "RUN". type cmd, then type this command "telnet my-domain-name.com 21"
check if the Port Blocked or not.

I had trouble getting filezilla to work whenever I started using it. I think I had your same problem. Someone then told me to tryout FlashFXP and I got it working. So I started using that. Much easier to use

yep, thanks for the explanation, actually the port of course was ok, so i don't know what was wrong with filezilla; now with flashfxp it worked from the top. go figure.
