Still (even with fw update) my problem continiues...
does your ps3 pick up other usb drives?
Yes, also I have a 80gb seagate (from my friends ylod phat) on usb case fat32 formatted...
Few usb sticks 4gb to 32 gb fat32...
Also I have a tried my friends 2.5" 250gb WD MyBook & 2.5" 500gb MyPassport & 3.5" 1TB WD MyBook...
All of them works perfectly...
Ok sounds real gay but you are going to have to buy another external, preferrably 1tb depending on how much space your using right now. Format it to fat32 using the fat32formatter and transfer all the data over for your ps3.
Thats only if you absolutely can't get the 2tb to work on the ps3. Do you have anything else in the USB ports of the console? If yes then rip em out coz your hdd might not be getting enough juice to run.
Thanks but notting attached...
I have turned (1.st part) to NTFS....
Then I connect to ps3, opend multiman (with usb.cfg trick) notting happened but 1 day later (today) I'm realized there is some files in my "Empty" NTFS part...
Something like about FIND_MOZ_EXT & some dll files...
Is NTFS trick leaved some files on your disc?
clutching at starws now lol, I Dont realy know what the usb trick is but try this, Place your a game in the ntfs drive in the folder called games get the new multiman for the new xmb menu in MM go to setting switch to ntfs libarys see if that works. If not then I would just bite the bullet and do what juggernaught said to do, get a 1tb
I'm running into the same issue. I've read from other users that they fixed the issue by using a USB hub. Not quite sure if it has to be a powered USB hub or a regular hub. I have a $2 hub that I tried, and it actually allowed me to power on/power off my WD 2TB Essential drive when connected to this hub. If the drive was connected directly to my 320gb PS3 Slim, the drive won't power on/off automatically. Unfortunately, this is the extent that it worked for me. The contents of the drive still didn't show up. This drive works just fine with my PS3 Phat console. I'll need to get a powered hub to give it a try again and/or try one of the more quality non-powered hubs.
I'm thinking of trying this one out: http://www.amazon.com/PS3-Slim-Media...5694343&sr=8-3
or perhaps this one: http://www.amazon.com/POWER-Media-Ex...5694343&sr=8-1
Unfortunately those are just for expanding usb's to 4 with some card readers.
This parts still using 1 usb's power, not from external power.
I have a usb hub with ext. dc 5V on my working place.
I'm gonna try that one...
For those of you still having this issue, I fixed it by getting this for my PS3 Slim: Amazon.com: POWER A Media Expansion Bar for PS3 Slim: Video Games
I plugged in my 2TB Western Digital Essential USB 3.0 external drive to one of the USB ports, and it works just as well as it did when the drive was plugged in to my old PS3 Phat.
Since this is a non-powered USB expansion module, the external drive turns on/off automatically according to the power state of your PS3 Slim. If you decide to get a powered USB hub instead, I don't think the external drive will automatically power down unless you turn off the power of the USB hub manually. Overall, this killed 3 birds with 1 stone for me...expand the PS3 Slim's USB ports to 4, add media card support, and use the new USB 3.0 drive.
For those living in the US, this unit is supposed to be available in store at Toys R US, Best Buy, etc. So if you have one of these stores nearby, you can give it a try to see if it'll work for you. These stores offer a no hassle return just in case.
BTW, I used EASEUS Partition Master to format the drive to FAT32 (one partition).
*** UPDATE ***
Don't get this thing just yet. My Slim is now hanging from time to time. I'm not sure if this is the cause of it. I need to do more testing.
