Broken Blueray drive! Help Needed
Broken Blueray drive! Help Needed –
My ps3 just quit picking up disc so i orderd a refurbished one off ebay. (Every time) the refurbished blueray drive loads the discs it freezes after sometime, then i have to unplug it to get it to power off. After i reboot it dosnt load the disc/show the blue cd icon, to get it to show/load i have to restore system files that show corupt data on the hard drive. Then everything all over after it freezes!
Is the refurbished ebay blueray drive diod going out?
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but you can't use just any drive. For one, it would have to be the same model as the one you had originally, and you have to put your controller board into that drive or else it won't work. The motherboard and bluray drive controller board are "married", you can't just replace one or the other.
ahh does anyone here have brains....? the laser/chasey has to be the same model as the laser/chasey, the ps3 model number shows you it. Also the control board is the brains of the blurray that has a code stored on the NAND to key them together. How would it even strat up the game without the wrong key? idiots!

Shit atleast you got comen since! and respond to people question, unlike the other 20 someting people.... yeah I was gona have it repaired in a shop but they charge $125 not worth it, especially I got it for free So I'm trying to get working for a great deal.
Ps. Don't break shit apart cause you cant
break it back together!
Why do you come on here and slag people off when they are trying to help you? Its rather hypocritcal you calling others 'idiots' when you can barely string a coherent sentence together.
How was that first answer any help? looks like he was trying to hijack my thread! its a question by the way smartass.
From the incoherent garbage your typing, it looks like you just called yourself an idiot. You quoted me, asked if anyone here had brains (which I'm assuming you were directing at me because of the quoting), then repeated exactly what I said. So either you didn't read my post or you called yourself a moron.
The PS3 blu ray drive replacing it has to be the same model as the original, and the blu ray controller board has to be transfered to the new drive because the board's key is married to the ps3's key in the firmware. If your blu ray drive controller board is fried, your screwed until someone comes out with a way to remarry the drive to the motherboard. There has been talk of the original $ony downgrade method actually remarrying the drive, by people that have looked through the downgrade process logs. The psgrade method does not do that; though, if the original method does, it's something that could be possibly implemented in the future...
How would I be trying to hijack your thread by stating that you assuming the game would play is the first problem? You don't mention that you've matched model numbers, or that you've transfered the controller board over to the the replacement drive. You just state you got it off ebay, threw it in the console, and assumed it would work. Moreover; if your intelligent enough to switch the controller board, and you've got 2 drives doing the same thing, you could easily deduce that the controller board is the problem.
In conclusion, please learn to type above a four year's capability before calling anyone an idiot, and do us all a favor by holding your breath for a remarry method.
My Gramer maybe shit but atleast I got comen since. Why would I buy shit to fix something without having knowledge on it? Also I mentioned the original blueray just craped out. The blueray from eBay wouldn't of even started a bluray game without the original control board. Shows how much comen since you've got! It's also possible to unsolder the bd balls on the NAND chip and resolder to a new control board with a heat gun.
WOW didnt read the whole argument... but if you want my advice... you might as well shell out the cash to fix it... aint no way you would know what you are doing.... and if you are too cheap to do that... might as well throw the ps3 in the garbage ... it will serve no purpose for you to have a ps3 that cant read blue ray disks... OR you could sell it on ebay for 120 or something but hey its your choice
