Two major problems in one day, but the PS3 was free so keh..

Anyway, after discovering my Bluray drive was screwed, I decided to follow a Youtube tutorial on how to check to see if its the lens or if the drive is completely buggered.

Bare in mind this is an old 60GB console, and I know it had been cured of YLOD previously by what appears now to be a complete idiot.

Basically, when it came to removing the bluray drive, the clip that holds the ribbon in on the PS3 side felt really stuck down, almost like it had been glued into place. I gave it a bit of force and it came off completely, but now there is nothing to secure the ribbon cable into place!

Any suggestions on a quick fix for this?

Ouch, is the clip itself broken, or is it what maintains it in place?
I have the part that maintains it broken on mine, so the clip comes off when I remove the ribbon cable. Nevertheless, I can still use that clip. I put it in place, insert the ribbon cable, lower the clip (I can't find the right words, pardon my English), then I push the clip inside the connector, and it stays in place.

That said if you have the clip itself broken, it'll be a problem.

EDIT : Filmed it for you, http://www.multiupload.com/M4YK27L9VP
    Hopefully it helps.

You are honestly the most helpful man on the planet, it is EXACTLY like your one.

Thank you so much! Did you actually take apart your PS3 to make that video?

    Honestly thanks again
