backed up disk not working?
backed up disk not working? –

I recently bought a modded ps3. It had some games on it already that work, but I wanted to add a couple of my own. I copied 3 of my own disks onto the internal hard drive, but only 1 of them works. Skate 3 works fine, but skyrim and dead island both give me the same error when I try to start them up. It says "An error occurred during the start operation. (80010017)". This may be an easy fix, but I'm pretty new to this so if anyone can help me out, that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Just go to http://ps3scenefiles.com/category.php?id=42
Find a patch for your non working games.
Replace the files in your back ups with the patched ones. Rename the original files so you don't loose them.
Play.

1.look inder system settings, systsm info. - that will tell you the firmware version
2.for patches goto ps3scenefiles.com and look for eboot patches (for your firmware or just google)
3. Q&A would be if you wanted to upgrade to newer cfw(since you got it used you never know what its been thru)

sound like it has a spoofer(tells your ps3 its different version so it doesn't try to update) .
You need to make a choice.
Either stay on 3.55(most games are patched for 3.55 now that keys are out there) and just look for patches at link above.(google ps3 backip compatibility. http://www.pshomebrew.net/wiki/PS3_B...ibility_List_W) thet will tell you what and how to look for fw versions ect. Pretty neat i think.
Or you can try to see it it will accept a official 3.55 update thru media device. If so then you can safely update to latest cfw. Do alot of reading to make sure it all makes sense before attemping. Wouldnt advise any short cuts either.

Alright, im using the link you gave me. I have 2 more questions. what is a "fw version"? and also, if im trying to play a game i copied from a disk, is that internal, or bd mirror?

Some games require bd mirror. Firmware version woild be like how it says version 3.71 kind of like a operating system. Same link@ps3scenefiles will have a category for "official" and "custom fw" if it allows the install of 3.55 or says same update is applied then you would be on 3.55 i say this because i have never heard of a 3.71 cfw. Tring to install the 3.55 will let you know your on 3.55 and uf it lets you install then i would thknk your on 3.41
The oatches usually dont matter internal/external unless stated in a readme file or you can look at the homebrew site it eill tell you too.
