asking for help from users w/ ps3 running 3.55/4.21 customfirmware –
my 4.46 ps3 can't downgrade easily, but I only need to use CFW PS3 to try and confirm one thing. if you have modded ps3, can you try flat_z's Secure File ID dumper on BLUS30736 soul calibur 5 for me?
(jesus, I am linking to this forum, even doing this is so hard lol)
I need this because BLUS30736 Soul Calibur 5 has been out for a year now, but its save file encryption key is still missing. there are so many things that xbox 360 players could do with the game that ps3 players can't because it's missing that key.
I already tried the bruteforcing eboot(dot)elf method using aldo's BSD but and no luck, this is my last shot. please help me out, thanks
The disc hash key dumper is what you need. Yes it does work. I've used it dozens of times. I'd help you with it but I don't have the game anymore. I'm confused about why you're trying to work with your save by bruteforcing an ELF file. Completely unrelated. You should be trying to bruteforce the PFD (it's a right click option in the save data tool)

so I am guessing you don't need the original disc to get the secure file ID because the game stores it in the eboot bin file, otherwise people can't play backups with just simple eboot patches.
The Disc Key dumper dumps the disc hash key (of the disc in your BD drive, pretty sure they're not stored in backups) , which is something that could be used for save decryption but the ps3 doesn't utilize/check it.
The Secure File ID Dumper dumps the Secure File ID key which is the main thing you need for save decrypt/encrypting.
Klicensee dumper, of course, dumps the klicensee. It's mostly only used for decrypting the EBOOT BIN or SELFs or SPRXs.
arrgh damn it, I am in a hurry to get this done, so I was hoping I could PM and request you to grab a scene rip from the usual sites that can't be mentioned on the pages according to the rules, but I can't send PM's without 30 posts...
right now there are several people I am trying to work with
- people who want the same thing as me, but are in the same boat as me, don't have CFW possible ps3, and don't have the resources to get one
- people who use CFW ps3 to play backups, but don't speak the same language as me, so even if I ask them for try something, we don't understand each other, and they probably are using newer versions of CFW to play newer games or something
- veterans, so far you are the only one that responded in my long search for help, but I am unable to operate within forum restrictions.

it's done whoohoo! bruteforce save data should have this in a few days.
