all I want to do is to save edit BLUS30736, BUT I am missing 1 key step –
I have 1 question that I couldn't find answer for
- Does secure file ID dumper work on Soul Calibur 5? if yes, how much work do I need to use it fresh start from OFW? Or can any of you veteran CFW users lend me a hand?
just want to unlock the hidden costumes that were supposed to be DLC but the company just completely dropped support for the game and all the plans were thrown into limbo.
but as I read on the things to do to save edit Soul Calibur 5, it seems like I have a lot of work to do before I can get there. just before I go on, if any of you have 3.55 or 4.21 CFW and Soul Calibur 5 US version, please lend me your help, otherwise please help me understand a few things.
so 1st off, I know there are 2 popular save editors out there, the free BruteForce save editor and 30 bucks Game Genie.
- BruteForce save editor's database currently doesn't have the encryption key (secure file ID) for this game, so I can't even use it.
- Game Genie's list of cheats only covers getting level 99, and even though it's a save editor, they promise to ban buyers who uses the cheats online. so if I use the costumes online, hyperkin might ban my worth of 30 bucks.
and recently they have been restructuring their servers a lot, some user features were lost and some games lost codes
Q. Will the Game Genie: Save Editor for PS3 interfere with online gameplay?
A. We are making every effort to ensure that the cheats do not affect online gameplay, but we cannot make a guarantee that the cheats will not have some effect on online gameplay. All of our cheats that we have compiled will not affect online gameplay to where there will be a competitive advantage against other users online. In the unlikely event that we do find cheats that affect online gameplay, we will make every attempt to block or prevent users from utilizing those cheats.
it just seems like there's no guarantee with game genie service. if I am buying game genie to mod just 1 game, and that 1 game doesn't get supported anymore in near future, it's wasted effort for me...
so I assume my best bet is to figure out how to get the secure file ID for soul calibur 5. from top google result, I see Flat_z's "secure file ID dumper".
great! awesome! but it requires either 3.55 cfw or 4.21 cfw, and there are some games that it doesn't work on, like dark souls or something. also, this game is one year old, and it's generally well received. if no one obtained the secure file ID, what does this mean? I have seen quite a few people request the SFID for this game too, but they never got answered. I want to verify it, but my console only has 4.46 OFW. I heard 4.46 CFW is coming out, but secure file ID dumper requires 4.21 to work anyway.
can a fat ps3 80gb 4.46 get jailbroken? can I switch back to OFW? I just have no idea how CFW works on ps3, and even if I search it, I don't think I can get everything I want to know in a single thread. I recall the description said something about using some sort of flasher and I need to make backup image of my current console in case **** goes wrong and bricked my console. how do I do that?
any of you CFW veterans with 3.55 or 4.21 CFW mind helping me with trying that secure file ID dumper on Soul Calibur 5 US version? this just seems so complicated to me and I highly believe I would brick my ps3 because I don't understand because this is just completely out of my field.
side question, is it possible to find console ID from 4.46 OFW? Bruteforce Save Data requires me to input user ID and console ID on the very 1st screen it pops up, but only user ID is available in the SFO file, not console ID. in fact if I load up any of my saved games and check them with Bruteforce Save Data or KG resigner, both of them will show my console ID as a bunch of 0000's.
so how does save data encryption work? does it only use secure file ID as encryption key, or does it also use user ID and console ID as part of the encryption process? if I am just modding my own save file, not resigning saves, do I still need console ID and user ID? I have also read that some games use double encryption scheme. how did game genie team crack all that on their own but our godly homebrew team bros couldn't?
