Well, considering that the firmware isn't on the hard disk but rather, flashed to EPROM on the console's main board, unless someone comes up with a way to point the firmware at a hard disk image that can be switched I really can't see this even being a remote possibility.

It was titled incorrectly on here. The article on PS3Crunch is
Kmeaw’s Upcoming CFW – It does Dual Boot Too

Hmmm, I actually read somewhere else that it was supposedly a cfw ofw dual boot, and it was announced in mirc like that, or so I heard. I wasn't actually there for that part. My initial understanding of it was a linux dual boot too, but someone sent me a different page that showed it was a cfw/ofw dual boot complete with the mirc chat. I don't know who's got the info wrong?

The major problem with a dual boot OFW/CFW is that COREOS resides in flash and not a Vflash region on the Hard drive. In a 16 meg nor the essenitals reside in physical flash. On the Phats with the 256 meg nand, the entire firmware resides on the physical flash. Just a theory , but to get a dual boot GameOS for CFW/OFW you would have to create a Stub to redirect the boot process to a vflash region on the hard drive which would boot the correct COREOS for that firmware. Nobody publicly announced they have complete understanding of it , and those that do claim to understand it will not release the information out of fear of being sued by Sony. The hints that these people may give are advanced topics that nobody but a few would understand or try.

The best we are going to see is a dual boot between linux and CFW.

I hope I am wrong but I don't see a OFW/CFW dual boot for a long time, if ever.
