[HELP] Swapping HDD between PS3s.
[HELP] Swapping HDD between PS3s. –

Ok. First... I´m aware I am not teh first person to answer this but I really need to be sure about this.
Here it goes:
Last month my three year old fat retro-compatible PS3 got the YLOD. I was able to fix it, in fact its working right now, I have a nice 320gig HDD installed (its now insufficient if you ask me). Well I got my hands on a 3.55 Slim PS3 with a 120GB HDD.
My question is: Can I swap HDDs in any way??
Of course I could not care less about de 120 GB HDD, it can be formatted. I know PS3 HDD is per console encrypted and stuff. I ve read around Graf_Chokolo was working to disable that encryiption. Did that lead to enything useful??
Also, there is some tutorial about swapping in service mode, in the middle of an update. I understand the risks, thats why im lookin another/best option.
So there it is. Thanks in advance.

I have personally swapped HDD on 2 PS3 (1 fat & 1 slim) on official firmware first before installing any CFW with success!!!
Fat console from 80GB drive to 1TB= Success - from Kmeaw 3.55 to Rogero 4.31 v2.04
Slim console from 250GB drive to 750GB= Success - Still on Kmeaw 3.55 CFW
Your best bet is to swap before installing any CFW in restore mode!!!
Hope this info help!
A Big THANKS to Rogero for his hard work!!!
I have just upgraded today from Rogero CFW 4.31 v2.03 to v2.04 without any problems!!!!
