    i WANTED TO KNOW if it was possible to rip a blu ray game disc with a laptop computer its a hp and sports a blu ray drive. I have tried this before and the pc just hangs. did I forget a step like a program that will allow me to rip it like Nero?? I dont want to get software to then figure out its not able to do what i want it to do. all answers are welcome and all the help i get is much apreciated.

    you're probably getting tripped up by the security layer. Unless you find a program designed to handle PS3 discs you probably wouldn't be able to do it. If you can see the disc contents in explorer then you might be able to just copy the contents out. Couldn't you just use your PS3 to make a backup/rip to your external hard drive and plug it in to your laptop?

    Yea I could do that. Well I always do that It's just I'm On vava in NYC and Wanted to know if it was possible to use my laptop to copy games. Darn it Looks like I will not be able to do it. Hvae you tried to use Nero?

    You can't back up a PS3 Game from anything other than the console itself - the entire disc is encrypted so the OS won't be able to find a valid file system and may cause your drive/OS to lock up as you said.

    When you insert the game into the console as long as GameOS lv2 is running the decryption will happen automatically, hence why it's so easy to gain access to the unencrypted files from Backup/File Managers.
