So it was never my intention to get into the PS2 scene. but recently doing an xbox mod for one of my customers, he presented me an irrefusable deal for a ps2, 5 games, the network adapter, and an extra controller. all for 100 CAN........ part of the payment for the work i was doing on his xbox. So anyawys, i told myself, right, sell it get money.... done!. BUT NOOOooooo, i found my mouse clicking away and before i knew it, was directed here and have now purchased myself a DMS v3 chip. it's on it's way to my door as we speak.

    I have a version 9 or so i think. 50001 it says.
SO, basically i was reading stuff here like "problems with DMS3 and V9" and was having a hard time finding any better installtion guides than the ones thrown at you from the DMS website that are very tarzanish. "YOU, WIRE, HERE. YOU WIRE 2, HERE.,....UGH"

i'm used to the smooth english explanations from xbox-scene.com

So basically, i was wondering if these tuts even exist. ONE for opening up my Ps2, instead of figuring it out on my own. My searches on this forum proved useless.

and TWO, an easy to read install for the DMS3 on a V9.

    Thnx

    Daniel

he he first welcome to the ps2 scene for starters as for detailed tuts thats about the best your going to get its a lot more delicate and intricate compared to a simple lpc mod on the xbox.

if you search around you will see some dissasembly guide's

    try faq forum.

its pretty simple really think dot to dot a connects to a be to b c to c and so on.

I think you should take care with the IR receiver on the V9, it's between the Reset and Eject buttons.

A SCHP-50001 unit does not mean you have a v9 Ps2. You may have a v10. The only way to be 100% sure is to open it up and look at the board revision. GH-023 = v9 and GH-026 = v10.

If you ordered a DMS v9, then it will work on either a 9 or a 10 so you're in luck. If this is your first Ps2 attempt, be ready for a long haul. Take your time and don't rush, this isn't like installing an Aladdin Advace heh.

the break down is slightly different to on the v9 ignore blessed obvious he has never touched nor seen a v9 inard
there is no follow the guide the ony difference is the reset eject is hard moulded to the dvd drive not on a long ribbon so you dont need to be careful about doing damage to the reset eject cable and the power supply is reversed but still held down by 4 small screws make sure you put the short screws back not long one's or you will dmage the main board.
