I have a V1 ps2 and i'm wondering if its worth going through the trouble of modding it? I've looked for a few days trying to find out if a v1 could read dvd +/- R/RW but no luck. Also I'm not an experienced modder so I'm wondering what other solutions there are that are good, such as this new memory card exploit or what not any suggestions would be great, thanks

Oh by the way I am intrested in imports, backups, and have it not effect my normal games. Well i guess thats everything except i don't really care about online...

Sell your PS2 on eBay for like $150 (be sure to include some original, but cheap games. Heck, get some used cheap games to throw in the package,) and then go get a V7 or V9 system. It's not worth modding the V1.
The Yellow PS2 auto-boots all. PS2, PS1 stealth and DVD movies.

Most v4s are still ok, but anything older than that it is a good idea to sell. In a V1-3 (and even some 4s) you will most likely need a new laser (or soon) after installing a chip. Then you've sunk another $50+ in a system that's really not worth it. I always recommend to sell them while they are still working and invest in a new system...

It would be easier to buy a premod. www.socalmods.com or www.precisionmods.com can hook you up.
