Right now I have both a fat and slim PS2. Is it worth getting a component video cable for the consoles? Right now I use the RCA cables, and I have not seen a comparison of the component versus the RCA for the PS2.

Also, if it turns out component video cable is worth the price to upgrade, any good sites to buy it online from? Thanks.

Yes, it is worth it. I will never switch back to composite for anything really.

As far I know Component cable are the only to get the most out of the ps2. It's even far superior to a VGA connection, which you could realize with GSM.

They is no comparison between Composite and Component. While you would give Composite 3-4/10 points in picture quality a Component connection would easily get 9/10. The only connection superior to Component is DVI/HDMI which would score 10/10 at the moment.

So if you really want to go for the best picture you get get out of the ps2, you should definitely go for Component cables.

It does look far better. Just don't throw out the composite cable yet, as you may need to adjust the screen mode (Y/Pb/Pr or RGB) to get any display using a component cable. (Or you might have the same issue I do, where a program you sometimes need refuses to display on it... >.>)

My best purchase on the PS2 was the component cable (right after the ethernet addon). So you really should consider to get one! You'll not be disappointed, I can guarantee this to you.

Get them, get them NOW. I finally decided to give them a shot a few months ago, after how many years of composite? Night and day, really. On my 720P CRT HDTV it's just soooo much better. BTW, for those having issues with some programs flashing on them, GSM on 480P fixed it for me (SNES station in this case). I meant that for HyperHacker or anyone else with the issue.

Component ist even superior to S-Video, but if that's only connection what your TV is compatible with, it's the best way to go.

Component is in theory superior to S-Video, for all practical matters, the two of them perform the same.

hdmi is the best cable for high definition, component, scart, s video, and then composite. there is practically an indifference of quality in between component and s video with non-proggressive scan PS2 games but component delivers 480p high definition with proggressive scan games.
