Wont detect controller 2
Ok my ps2 is running like a charm now after replacing the white gear, at least so I thought, now it wont detect my second controller for some reason. Controller 1 is working without a problem and both memorycard slots work, and the red light can be turned on on the second controller so it seems to be getting power. I have also tried pluging the second controller into the 1st slot and it works so it doesnt seem to be a problem with the controller, rather the slot. Anyone know what the problem could be and how to fix it?

the connection inside the controller socket is probably not good.
open the ps2 and have a look into the controller socket there should be some metal conectors inside which might have heen jammed or damaged they look like the ones inside the memory card socket.if you can try to pull them down a bit so the connection is better.

Ive been messing with those metal connectors on the bottom side of the whole controller/memorycard thing, bending and such, sometimes i can get one of the controllers to connect, but never both at same time...atm none of them works, im going crazy here...how can it be so hard to get both to connect

I'd say there is something wrong with the port assembly. Get a new one or take it apart and look for the problem (make sure the flexi cable is properly seated)

This isn't gonna be much help but when I keep having the same problem with a "lesser" part (ribbon cable, controller port) i break out a bright flashlight and a magnifying glass and give it all a good look.
