No, this will not work. What you need is a wireless ethernet bridge like the linksys WET11. This devices works independantly from the ps2 (in this case) and connects to the ps2 network adapter via a regular network cable. The bridge does all the communcation with the wireless network and your ps2 is never the wiser. A usb adapter needs drivers to work properly and even if you could get it to work, it would never work with dnas enabled games.
There is a wireless adapter specially built for the PS2, but it costs about $100, which is obviously quite steep...
I don't know what it's called or who makes it...sorry...
I was in the same situation and didn't want to run cable from one side of my house to the other. I use the WET11 bridge as mentioned by digitalFX. It works great.Originally Posted by digitalFX
you are talking about the linksy wireless game adapter that one is a "g" adapter there are generic adapters that are "b" but the transfer rate is lower then the "g" version but its have the price go here to here to compare and even check out walmart if you have one to buy it for around $50+ dollars.Originally Posted by id10t

REsurreting this thread with some questions:
1) Will I notice a difference between using a 802.11b and a 802.11g bridge?
2) Will the wireless bridge interfere with the wireless controllers (they are both on the 2.4GHz band)?
3) Is there a difference between a wireless bridge and a wireless access point? I also noticed that Lynksys has wireless game adapters, how do those compare?
Thanks,
Alex.
1) no unless you have an internet connection faster than 11mbit...give or take...
2) no...and if yes you have 11 channels to choose from with wifi. I use wireless controllers with no problem.
3) The access point is a device that connects to your network to accept the incoming wireless connections. The game adapter/bridge is a device that hooks up to your console to connect TO the wireless accesspoint/router. As for how the last two compare, I really can't say becuase I don't own a game adapter.
I hope that helped clear a few things up for you.
