Will a v7 drive work in a v4 ps2?

I think my laser is bad in my v4 ps2, so could I swap my v7 ps2 drive in it to check and see? Or is it not compatible?

Just swap the laser; both assemblies have differing connectors that won't work with another motherboard.

Yea. Just make sure the v7 uses a 400C laser since the R laser is not v4 compatible.

Do you guys know any good tutorials on changing the laser? Or is it just basically unscrew a few screws and install the new one?

Nevermind guys, the ps2 laser is now working fine after I uninstalled the mod chip that was in it. That's weird huh?
