Since my ps2 got dre ive been wondering what causes these evil little disk read errors and why doesnt sony do something about it like change the lasers or improve the quality of their lasers.
Also is there any way to help stop disk read errors.

clean ure lazer
basically (this is what i guess, somone can confirm) this is when the ps2 is unable to read a disc
either due to scratches or damage
or copy protection systems
To improve the lazer would mean more expense
sony couldnt do that, give a decent lazer and please customers, what are u smokin :o

If you have a unmodded PS2 sony will fix it for free. But you pay shipping to them.
dre happen due to the use of the console. nothing last forever.
thanks for your answers guys but i would like to correct messiahfan2003 i phoned them to get my ps2 fixed and the bloke on the phone said they no longer do free repairs as it costed to much money they just payed off the lawsuit thing and he wanted me to pay £55 for a reconditioned ps2 (inc shipping) which is a bit much but i cant live without san andreas and killzone
