This is not true. Not in this time, with these disc and with modern burners. Not for DVDs. ;]
Burning quality is individual matter, especially when different vendors using different media burn strategy for different disc based on their ATIP information (which could be not true...). Check PIE/PIF errors and Jitter for Your combo: Burner + disc on different speeds.
Burning optical media is not so easy as many think. It's not just "put disc, burn and forgot". I hope M-Disc could change this situation a little bit. ;)
