    Hey Guys,

After using my modded Xbox for a few years, I've decided to dust of my PS2 and see what can be done to it. I've got a version 1 PS2 (got it on launch day) and I was wondering if there's a modchip that will work with it? I've searched around these forums but most discussion's are about more recent version of the PS2. Also, can I do the GS 2 disk swap procedure? and if I burn a dvd with games on it, will it play with the GS2 disk swap or do I need to have a modchip?

Thanks and sorry for all the questions (man the xbox modding is so much easier )

I used to have a day 1 PS2. It could read DVD+R media as far as backups. I used the cogswap memory card loader and a sliced up credit card to load burnies until I got it chipped.

As far as chips, I would suggest DMS3 for maximum flexibility in ps2 modding, or Duo2 if you just want to play backups. Both are compatible with a day 1 PS2.

Even though I cleaned and calibrated the laser, it still had read errors and I had to replace it. It definitely brought the old PS2 back up to snuff and had no problems reading burnies.

Seems lots are flocking from the "Dark Side" of XBox modding to something they have to work for to enjoy. He he he.

I installed Matrix Infinity on a v1 PS2. No problem at all. Reset(I think) point is at alt location, same side as rest of the wires, not on the other side of the board.

Mine doesn't read DVD+RW but it reads DVD+R. Good enough for me.
