    What version number is the new PS2s which have progressive scan, built in IR, ability to power on/off/ and eject from remote etc? They v8 or v9. Whats the actual model #? Is there a mod out for them yet?

    schp-50000 that is the jap one, i've been hearing about the US one over and over, but i still haven't seen one at my local walmart so i cannot comment.

    Well I think they are calling the scph 50001 the version 9 (I'm not for sure)
    I dont think the US ever got the version 8 (version 7 board with 090 bios)

    i think the 50001 unit will be in the us before there is a revision to the us v7, so we will eventually have a unit comparable to the v8, but i believe we will have a v9 first, and i do think sony will implement the same burned dvd check into the US v8.

    it's kindof the way the PAL ps2's never had a v1 or 2, they started with v3, it was comparable to the US v3...the US never had a jap 10k comparable, so that is now called v0, they didn't do a good job in the early days as it wasn't important when using a neo2 chip as it is now to notice bios #'s
