like what type of media is it? dvd-r or is dvd-rom and type of dvd. and would this dvd-rom here read ps2 games? click here
cause it doesnt actually say it read dvd-rom's. just dvd-r/rw and dvd+rw. or do all dvd-roms read ps2 games.
i just want to get a 16x dvd-rom that read ps2 games, dvd-r/rw, dvd+rw and thats about it and maybe dual layered(dvd9) if more games come out like that.
TIA

ps2 games with the silver bottoms are just normal _pressed_ dvds... not DVDR or anything like that.. the manafacturers have a special "master" disc which they press into the reflective surface of the disc which makes the grooves which the ps2 reads as data. this method is much better than that of DVDR's, since they have a much higher reflectivity. this is why people have trouble with ps2 lazers trying to read DVDRs , but not original discs. so the answer to your question is yes, all PC dvd rom players will be able to read ps2 discs, although it won't be able to make sence of that data like the ps2 does. (untill a working emulator for retail ps2 games comes out)
have fun

[EDIT: yes that DVD rom drive will play normal dvds.. hence "DVD drive" afaik that drive will do everything you said you wanted it to]
