what dvd drive do i have in my ps2?

hi

im a noob to ps2 modding and i know that on the xbox some dvd drives are better than others, foe example samsung is the best one and thomson is crap.

does it work like that on the ps2? if so, what dvd drive have i got?

Yes xbox use a third party company for DVD DRives, Thomson, Philips and Samsung, but Sony doesn't really do that, they're all pretty much the same, in ps2 you make sure you have a good laser, rather then the entire drive. what version is your PS2?

in the earleyer verson ps2's the lazers where not quite as good as the newer ones

but the slim ps2's people tell me thet they are also not as good but I dont know about that
