Sup y'all... i realize this topic may have been discussed about 100 other times in the past, but i really wanna know what u guys think. I used to be into the PS2 scene until bout a year ago when i switched to xbox. Now with all these exclusive games being released for the playstation, im starting to miss out. I just ordered a dms3 2.0 , a memory card, controller, bla bla bla and can't wait to get it up and running. The scene seemed dead for a bit but now with the hd loader out and whatnot... its round 2 boys.

To answer my own question as of now, im still into the xbox more because of the hacking capability. The media player is ****ing amazing. SOME of the platformers are really good but thats about it. I HATE the controllers and i dig the ps2 ones anyday. But as far as it goes right now, xbox has the edge imo.

    Feel free to disagree.

I think you're right on... the XBOX is still leet in the hacking department. But to be sure, the PS2 is catching up. And yep, nothing beats the Media Center.

BUT, for game support, Sony is still way ahead.

About chipping an xbox... I laughed my ass off one day when surfing the xbox-scene forums... apparently this wanksta was bitching and complaining about how hard it is to mod an xbox. If only he knew the 20-something wires u gotta solder to a ps2. not to mention the vias, controller points and what not. you can't even compare.

Actually for games, Sony is still way ahead, BUT I am not sure what will happen if Xbox2 will be released 1 year earlier than PS3. And not to complain, BUT Xbox is much more stable when it's chipped and there are only a few dead ones around (no, I do not think about those on Xbox-scene that kill their xbox's with a wrong flash, and so on, many of those guys have never seen a soldering iron, they play with solderless things and wonder why their machines do not work anymore, hehehe) As the Xbox controllers are TERRIBLE, well the S controller is even much worse than the normal (for me at least). The Xbox mediaplayer rocks, but I think most of us have a decent PC, so for us there is no a really need for the Xbox mediaplayer. It's hard to judge anyway.

Anyway I can live with both of them, I even wished some more competing consoles, but ok, Nintendo is not an option, hehe...

    regards, Stephen

I find myself playing the XBox ore now adays, however I wouldent touch it if it werent chipped. As far as game play on most games, the XBox is terrible. For example: Driver3 on XBox sucks compared to the PS2. Its almost impossible to drive th cars with the jerky controlls.

I think unless you have a plethera of computer knowledge the XBox is more difficult to mod. Its not about the soldering of the chip, its all about what apps youve got, and getting a good flash. The ps2 is siple to me, but I got a FRAG modding my XBox and had to send it to a pro to have it fixed and modded right. I aslo got all the latest apps and emulators, which I wouldent have been able to do myself.

As far as the learning of modding these consoles, the PS2 can be done with a diagram and a lot of patience, and the same for the XBox's chip. But when someone has a question about the software they get flamed pretty bad which seems a bit childish to me. I dont bother with XBox-Scene anymore, just a bunch of assholes that think they are gods. Its a forum for enthusiasts, not a place to put down members who need help. IMOP - You either help them, or dont post.

LOL that is funny. I can pretty much do LPC points blindfolded!

Only thing with the 1.6 is that you have to do an LPC rebuild. 5 more points/wires.
The Yellow PS2 auto-boots all. PS2, PS1 stealth and DVD movies.

Driver3 sucks on xbox compared to ps2?
Driver3 just sucks in general. I dont think the ps2 has it much better

If xbox wasnt able to run media players, you would have a lot less sales. If xbox couldnt run emulators from the hdd, you'd have a lot less sales. In fact, if it wasn't for the scene, m$ would be much further behind. Ps2 never needed mods to shift units (yes i do realise a lot of sales come from modding, but sonys range of games attract more regular console owners)

Personally, i never understood what fuss there is about xbox. (Yes ive owned both) Yes, the xbox has a EXCELLENT media player, but so does the pc I used to download stuff to the xbox. Most of the games are multi format, and the rest are distinctly average. Xbox2 will have a hard time getting off the ground because the masses will wait for ps3.

Not that it matters, but I know a lot of people who turned from PS2 to Xbox, because PS2 costed a lot. (I mean when it dies 2 times a year, lasers are weak like hell, plus the things like that) And I know a lot less who went from Xbox to the PS2. (there are many who own both) Xbox with a decent reader + big HDD is the ultimate gaming solution for the masses and I doubt that anyone who doesn't want to spend his income on reparing will wait for a PS3 especially if its quality will be the same as the PS2's.

About games: Driver 3 and also Richard Burns Rally were big dissapointments for me and for a lot of guys too. I can't belive that in 2004 anyone dare to release such crap games like these two. But Full Spectrum Warriors saved my summer, hehe...

I honestly prefer the XBox. It may have less games, but it has more games to my liking than the PS2 does. In a way, the PS2 isn't the console for me. Don't get me wrong, I like my PS2 and enjoy some games, and the recent release of HD Loader makes everything taste better, but overall, I think the XBox suits me better than any other console. But in the end, it's better to have access to all of them all.
