  1. #1 Question problem - ps2 goes to setup screen randomly
    starkes Guest
Hey there. I've got a buddies system modded (by me, quite some time ago) with a magic V chip. Its a version 9 as I remember.

Anyhow, It seems to be having a problem where it will randomly freeze, then once restarted will go to the system configuration screen or whatever where you select your language, timezone, and all that other stuff.

Thats not supposed to happen after you do it the first time you take your system out of the box. And oddly enough, the modchip is working when the system works. Backups play fine... when they play. Often the system gets to be a real pain in the ass and will keep going back to that setup screen every time it boots.

Do any of you guys know what the problem could be?
    thanks.

It might be possible that the battery located next to the cd/dvd drive (right side) might be dead. I assume that this battery is for keeping the clock up to date while the ps2 is powered off. If this is dead it COULD cause that problem. I'm not sure if this is what is causing it, or if it's even true...just an idea.

You better check the wiring of the chip. The soldering may be changed by the heat of the console.
Another possibility is the that the chip itself became faulty because of heat.

yepp sounds like a heat problem. how long can u play before it dies when it have been cooled down?

If it is almost the same time everytime its defenetly a heat issue.
