Views on new Board design
As you know there is a new V10 board design out and a lot of you are asking questions on why sony have changed it.
Well this is my view.... (any thoughs comments post please)
As you can see by the pictures on the other theard the CD/DVD chip that was on the underside of the PS2 board has been moved to the top side. Next to where the bios used to be.
In my view this has been moved because it was getting too hot with the new lasers and console design of the V9's
As there is quite a lot of reports of the boards dying, which I believe is a heat problem with the boards and this chip and the LA IC's
And so Sony have moved it to the top side to transfer the heat out of the console. This in turn has lead them to moving the bios because this would make a lot of heat as well. And so to avoid these two IC's making a lot of heat they have gone for the cheapest option of moving just across the board out of the way.
This way the new consoles should not dye, this is why Sony have changed their board designs.
It looks a quick alteration they have made by the looks of the board layout and too keep costs to a min. (its not cheap to change a board design in a massive way)
As for the bios, it will proberly have been alt. in some way to work on the new board design as postions of ICs has been changed. Will it have new protection?, who knows until someone gets their hands on one and starts pulling it apart
Lets hope its a simple alteration and there is a way to find out what model it is without opening it.
Sony may even change the model in the furture, it could be they have loads of old boxes for the old model, as the new design may have been quickly done and so to save more money they have kept the old boxes until a new batch or there may be nearly no change to the workings of the board to justife a new model.
In which case the chips should be easy to get to work
