Version 7 laser in a version 9?

Can I a version 7 ps2 laser into a version 9. I want to see if it will resolve the issues in this thread http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showthread.php?t=37111 Thank you all for any help.

If it's the khs-400c laser yes.

the r type will also replace the hd7 , so they have to be the same laser unless you use the laser changer program .

where does it say what laser you have. I have looked around the mounted laser unit with the top off and I could not find anything that would have the indication of the laser version.
