Top_1: and what was the syndrome of your friend's dead PS2 ? I have to admit that anything can crash but let me tell you that this "strange dead effect" happens mostly to CHIPPED consoles. I am SURE someone from Sony is watching and laughing about us, so mod developers should take a look at it and take steps to solve this ****ing annoying problem, that leads to many people will stop modding/using PS2.

The same effect - strange noise from DVD-Drive...
When you open PS2, you can see that laser point moves from start of disc, going about 1cm (with 0.5mm steps), and moves back to start-position... and going again 1cm......back.... again...

One friend sold more than 50 modded PS2's V9 (last 2-3 months) and all of them was 100% good. Last week he bought 5 PS2's, and after maximum 7 days -> 4 of them failed.....

b.t.w Tell me, why SONY released v10 model (after 5 months of premiere of v9 model ) ?

V10 ? Don't you say that the LA/LB that can burn are changed on the V10 ? Oooh, no. There're the exact same components on V10 just like on V9. The BIOS changed, so the design of the board... No more components added. So I still think V10 was not released for cure of these problems. (but may you be right, I'd be very happy if those did not happen to V10... but I doubt)

    regards, Stephen

pS: by the way Sony released GH22 (as V7) after GH19 (V7) and there was not that much problem reported about GH19... was there ?

From reports I learnt that Mars was ALWAYS one of the best "machine" killers. So for me that's not an issue. And talking about Snippers, phew, here are two on my desk, that when you install WORK for the first reset. After that no screen activity or simple DREs'. Turning the machine off solves the problem(s)... Tested these two in about 10 machines, same problem. So talking about ****** I doubt quality is so high we should waste so many words on them... Anyway, I have never had any problem with GH19. Not a single dead machine. (no, I don't say that I installed 100000,
    but 200 for sure)

the version 7 problem was a small minority otherwise we would have had the same arguments were having now with the v9.
so 200 is a small number in reguards to the amount of dead v7's the v9 is definitly a weird one and i still think it's sony based with mods inducing the fault.

Entity: 200 is a small number, I agree. But unfortunatelly I already have had 2 dead V9s in 20 installs, shit that's even a smaller number... Anyway as I said earlier, I wish you were right. And that this hysteria could be solved by the releasing of the V10. Unfortunatelly still no signs of it. We'll see. (and I pray not to have that many dead V9s...)

that's the problem with the v9 the number's are so high but if it is indeed a version fault we will never know because unmodded systems wont be reported here unless we find the problem and solution ourselfs.

It looks that BAD serie of dead v9's is: FC XXXXXXXX
(all of one friend's 5 PS2's - not modded too...)

Last week other friend brought about 50 pcs, and had no signal of that bad serie... His consoles S/N is starting with: AC XXXXXXX
    not FC XXXXXXX ....

    So let's post S/N of dead PS2's.....

    FC7154XXX , FC6496XXX

Last one dead I saw starts with FC... no clue about the others. Anyway I test and sell many PS2s as unmoded, and none ever reported and/or claimed for warranty, thought some are many months old... (V9s) No clue, as said, but hope you all are right and it's Sony's fault, but ... more investigation is needed...
