I just bought a used v9 PS2 and when I got it the laser and rales were just ratteling around on the inside. I plugged the laser ribbon back into the laser. And now am trying to put the rails back together. It seems like there should be something holding the rails down though. On my v4 ps2 it has a black thing and some screws that hold them down. But on the v9 I don't see that nor do I see any where for screws. So how are the rails supposed to be held in?

that chrome metal piece on top off the white cogs holds the rails, it clips out at the back and then sits on top of rails and then clips back down

That was what I thought too but it won't clip over both of the rails. They are both the same length but because of the way the one on the right is placed it doesn't fit all the way to the clip.
