ok i have the scph 50001 series ps2. now the problem is that one day while playing my game it froze i tryed to turn it off by the reset button but it didnt work, so i manually turn it off by the switch. i realized that my laser melted (hd-7) i replaced it with a new laser now it loads fine up unto the matrix logo and then nothing but a blank screen what is going on with my ps2? i know there is a fix for it the romeo but thats only for the v12 not the v9 am i correct? any help would be appreciated.

the romeo fix is for v9 not v12. it is were you lift pin 17 (i think) on the la chip and solder a wire to it and a 5 volt point. but this wont help if your ps2 is alredy gone it is to stop it doing this. your la chip is probly blown it is a very comon problem. to test it use a multi meater to see if pin 17 (i think) is grounded

maybe the laser needs retuning - it should boot all the copies. unless they were on dodgy/scratched media.

on a side note - i've replaced a few la's. all bought from divineo - installed with no problems. on just about all of them the laser coils were low, replaced laser - still didnt work, then replaced LA then it worked fine. its very difficult to detect a blown LA (apart from a huge hole in it) - the power pin rarely shorts to ground so there's not much you can measure to detect if its dead.
