make a new grnd wire to the magic chip
i looks like grnd is flowing away this results also in a blackscreen

and could explain why it boots once in a while
also check that the shield is not shorting on the chip because this can do the same thing

    grtz

Thanks mabcom, but I completely removed the magic chip a few days ago. So, the machine must be damaged. I just used some coolant spray on the bios chip itself, and now the machine boots fine.... so I need a new bios chip. Where can I get one for a V7?

The machine only boots fine if I use spray on the bios first and frost it completely over. Otherwise, it takes roughly 15 resets to get anything. If I frost the bios over, I get immediate start up and the machine appears to work fine.

I wanted to provide a conclusion to this thread - I got the machine working 100% again. I had a guy from Modchip.ca send me a bios chip from a dead v7 they had where somebody botched a mod install and destroyed the board. It took me a lot of time to remove the old bios, but once I carefully had it removed and the new bios chip on there, the machine works good as new.
