V4 problems –

Hi
Well i got a ps2 for christmas (its a v4 second hand PAL about 2 years old i think)
and i have played san andreas for a good 1-2 hours every day if not more and about 2 weeks ago it started crashing then recently started making a horrible grinding sound when i turned it on it wouldn't read the disk and didnt come up with the red disk read error after about 40 seconds of it being on it started making a slightly quieter clicking noise i opened it up and cleaned the laser with a new soft cloth (which i know you shouldn't do) but i got it up to the loading screen then it crashed and started making the quiet grinding noise again and when i removed my disk it was all scratched round the edges despite being only about 2 months old i was reading an article on the internet that said something about ps2 not beign build for streaming games and the laser going to fast when its streaming san andreas etc. do you reckon replacing the laser will work or is my ps2 doomed and i have to fork out £135 for a new one if thats the case can anyone recommend a good place for ps2 slims or one that sells the old model.
Any help appreciated.
