Did my version4 with a dms3+ribbon cable a while back.. worked great for quite some time, then sudunly stopped, i located the problem... a break in the ribbon cable.. so i re-did the install and decided to go with a m2 i had left over.. it didnt boot 100% after the install, and no sound.. all connections are solid, so i re-did the clk and scex and made them double grounded twisted pairs(first kinda half-assed, as ilustrated in this pic)... then even went as far as using outdoor double insulated copper on both pairs(contact and ground)(not ilistrated in this picture) to eliminate any noise, and made it as short as possible, even moving the chip a bit closer.. boots beutifully 100%, never freezes.. , but still no sound...

    any ideas?

Um, based on the pic, I would have to say you soldered your A-I points to the wrong chip. You should solder them to the DVD controller, not the chip in the pic.
The Yellow PS2 auto-boots all. PS2, PS1 stealth and DVD movies.

They are the exact same points, check for yourself with a multimeter. I have done it this way many a time without any problems, i do not think that would effect the sound...

Ok, if they are on the same trace, no problem. Did you have any bridges. Try redoing all those points, if you still have the problem, check the BIOS points.

Triple checked and re-did all points, no bridges, everything solid, still no sound.

I e-mailed the person i got the chip from (usually a VERY reputable dealer), he responded to my first email, i sent him to this forum to see the pic of the install to see if he had any ideas or if he would let me exchange the chip, and he has yet to get back to me... i wont point any names cause i know hes a good dude... but dude.. come on.. dont leave me hangin here...
