V4 Gap or No-Gap???
I wrote the mods at modchip and they said to look at the BIOS chip to tell if I have gap or no-gap. I am doing my first install and have my machine all apart. I dont know which chip is the BIOS, and what to look for on it once I found it. I am very comfortable with soldering and doing these kinds of projects. Can anyone tell me specifically how to tell which V4 I have? Also, I notice there are alternate soldering points under the board. Are these universal? I located them and they seem to be the same for other models as well...and does it matter how you route the wires from the top of the board to get to these points??

This is a V4 gap bios. Notice the gap in the middle. A tough one for your first.
Take a look at some installs here.Points may SEEM to be the same but usually are not

I have a v4 with a gap bios they are pretty much the same. If you open it up you will find out. Most V4 install diagrams should have a gap or a non gap bios diagram. I hope this helps.

Thank you guys!!! I have posted to a bunch of forums, and even to the mods that sell modchips, and you wouldnt believe how hard it was to find out how to tell if I had gap or no gap. It all came down to the gap between the pins on the chip farthest to the right of the 4 along the front of the mainboard. How hard was that? Thats exactly what I wanted to know. It may be a tough one for my first, but I soldered a 100 satellite receivers which require the same precision, so I am not worried at all, but thanks for the concern. Thanks again for the info. Later
