I couldn't get the exploit to boot up for a while and I finally figured out why. For some reason the motor in the laser assembly won't spin. If I push a bit on it it spins up and works fine until it spins down again. I greased the top white disc to help prevents it from getting stuck but to no avail. Anyone know what part should be greased to get it to spin freely again?

Yeh, I'll try that. For clarification does anyone have any pictures before I go nuts with this?

http://img68.exs.cx/img68/8536/hpim02231ix.jpg - picture from my v3, its blurry because my camera can't seem to do anything up close for some reason. Regardless the motor sits atop the coils, which I assume means the magnet is in the casing. No drive shaft to be oiled at all.

you gotta set the camera to "Macro" mode.
my canon uses a little flower button & icon to signify macro mode.

I oil those by prying the upper part off, oil on the shaft and push back. Quite difficult, better to get a new one. If you do this be careful not to bend the shaft or ruin the coils/pcb. Use a flat head screw driver and an old credit card or similar on the pcb to prevent it from getting damaged.
