  1. #1 Is a v12 fan thermostat controlled????

I have problem with fan The fan is getting power but not moving -- i checked and verified power at the fan motor itself also. It has 3 wires going to it not 2!

Brushless DC motor 8.3 VDC .3A

    3 wires going to fan:

    Red

    Black

    Yellow

When console is powered the fan is getting 8.3VDC from MB ground to Red wire.

When console is powered the fan is getting 7.3 VDC from MB ground to black wire.

When console is powered the fan is getting .50 VDC from MB ground to yellow wire.

I am not getting 100% continunity to ground from the yellow wire but pretty close. I feel the yellow might be common.

Are we sure this v12 fan isn't thermostat controlled???? I'm startng to have my doubts. The fan is getting power but not turning. This fan looks complcated with PCB built in. I can see the dust on fan where it has worked before. lol...

    NE1 help on this one??? Remember it's a V12!

    Best,

DO NOT CONNECT THE YELLOW WIRE, that is 5.5v and you don't really need it....

well, the 3 wires going to fan come from the plug in connector so not sure why I should remove it (?).

The fan has the 3 wires going in the fan. I took off the sticker and they are all soldered to fan assembly. I have 8.5 on red wire to mb ground and 7.5VDc on black wire to mb ground. So this fan is getting power but NOT turning. It does have a built in PC in the fan which lends me to believe it is thermostat controlled. This is my main question is:

Are the the V12 slim PS2s thermostatically controlled???

It may not be hot enough yet to come on if so.

PS the fan sticker says 8.5VDC rated

Dang, I guess nobody has had a problem with V12 fans yet. This bites. Fan has power but wont turn. I cannot believe it is bad already.

Does NE1 have a v12 that knows if fan comes on right away. I'm jus trying to see what the normal operation is so I can determine if I have a problem or not.

    Thank You In Advance,

The V12 that I got I have been selling parts from it but I do know that when I was testing the system out when I turned the PSTwo on it would immediately start spinning the fan, sometimes faster or slower than other times. Sometimes when I turned it on it would be a gentle spin all the way through but then other times when I turned it on the fan would spin much faster than normal and then slow back down to what seems like normal speed (I think this is because of voltage spikes at power on). I still have the fan from my system if you are wanting to put a different fan in it.

I'm going to resold the 3 connections on mobo and if need take mobo ground wire to fan connect since power is 100% present.

If still not fire I'll send u some cash np and u can mail be out that part.

    Thanks for the post!
