Got my hands on a bad dms4 install on the slimline. Removed everything and tried original game. I can hear the clicking sound of laser (tick..tick..tick) but disc won't spin.
No laser fix was applied, the resistors are untouched (30k). Checked all fuses, and ribbon cables, everything's good. Also tried another laser from a working console, same result. If some chip is blown, which one would it be?
I have a working mobo from another slim ps2 and can't find any difference, when checking different points with multimeter.
Please share your suggestions! Thank you.

Its prolly not your chip. Your laser or your spiner thingy is prolly broken. Buy a replacement or buy a new system.

try with the lid off and manually holding down the 2 lid switches, i had one that wouldnt spin disc and it was a broken lug on lid not depresing the lid switch, try it see if it works manually. also had one doing the tick tick sound, someone had screwed the laser pots right down cd 120ohm and dvd 450, screwed them back up to 280 and 980 and worked fine
    Many have asked

The problem was in the laser. Changing the laser helped. The pots on the broken one are 375ohm - 950ohm, changing them to 280 - 980 didn't help, so just wondering, is it possible to buy a spinning motor part for the laser? Or better buy new laser unit?

thx in advance for your contributioN!
