V1 power supply problems
V1 power supply problems –

Hey all,
I'm having some trouble with a V1 PS2. It keeps popping on of the fuses in the power supply and I was wondering if this is a common problem, or if my supply is dead and I should look for a new one.
The fuse labeled "F002" is the one that went. I couldn't find out exactly what amperage it was, but by the markings on the fuse itself it looked like 8A@250V. I didn't want to chance that high of an amperage rating, so I stuck a 6A 250V in there to see what happened. I figured the worst would be it would just pop it again if it was supposed to be an 8A. Well apparently it's lower than that because when I tried to power it up it popped the 3.15A fuse that's labeled F001. This happned as soon as I turned it on. I didn't have any 3.15A fuses handy, so I stuck a 4A in there to try again. This time I removed the power supply from the PS2 to see if something in the supply was shorted, or if the problem lie elsewhere. Again, the 3.15 (now 4A) fuse labeled F001 popped right away.
So it seems to me that something in the power supply is shorted. Is there any of the components that typically do this? Should I start trolling ebay for a replacement? Are the supplies interchangable between all of the versions, or do I need to find a V1?
Thanks for any help you can give.
