Anybody have some favorite ps2 games that never got as much notice as you thought it should?
For me there will always be a special place in my heart for Smugglers Run 2. Something is just too fun about driving offroad so freely, jumping hills and generally pissing off the cops
. Story is crap, but at least the music is pretty good.
So what games are your personal ps2 favorites that you see gets little mention in the public light?

underrated is kind of hard to define.
for me that would be
okami - because the game was great but did not sell well
blood will tell - nice hack and slash game with creative power up system.
ico - no need to explain, i hope.
shinobi and nightshade - comparable in difficulty to ninja gaiden, but very fun to play
sky gunners - awesome shooter. love it.
front mission 4 on ps2 apparently didnt' sell well outside of japan, so 5th part was only japanese ;/
these are the ones i play, like and know that they don't have a big following.

For me it's got to be,
Mr Mosquito (just try it)
Shadow of Memories (Konami game about trying to stop your own death.)
Zone of the Enders 1 and 2 (over shadowed by MGS, personally I think ZOE is better.)

i recently got into zoe2. neat. i suspect zoe1 is disappointing as people claim, though.

Cool, I guess we have a similar interest in games, since Blood Will Tell and Front Mission were two of my favorite games for the PS2. I also liked the others, just haven't played Sky Gunners yet. By the way in case you weren't already aware, there was an English patch of Front Mission 5 released, check my post here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63345 (Front Mission 5: Scars of the War (English Translation Completed)).

i also think ff12 is a bit underrated. it's a popular game, but many people dislike/hate it.
people claim it's not a real final fantasy game, while i find it to be the best of the series - the gambit system deals with all the boring fights and the voice acting is one of the best. also, something about this game feels like vagrant story - that adds some extra appeal to it.
i think the same can be said about metal gear solid 2 - people hate playing as raiden. (after seeing him in mgs4, they are eating their words
)

Amazing game, shame there was no sequel.

I actually like ZOE1 alot one of my favourite games, even though I love both ZOE games, I played them back to back at the beginning of the year for about the fifth time and would actually say I prefer the first, except for 1 little annoying bit.

Shadow of Rome from Capcom. Good bloody fun and some neat (if a bit frustrating) stealth parts ala MGS.

tales of the abyss - awesome rpg and way better than, for example, overrated ffx. every rpg fan should have played this
