OMFG! I've heard it all now! Talk about being lazy!
Just get up off your fat ass, lean over & switch it on!
Next you'll be wanting the PS2 to play the games for you too, to save you getting finger cramp!

    ouch! lol

i'm sure its not a "lazy" factor

but more of a home theatre factor. the idea of turning it on like any other dvd player or vcr or tv with a remote is pretty cool. and would work your smart minds to figure it out.
possible with xbox! i hope there is a ps2 possibility

like i said. its the challenge of doing it and doing it successfully. lets encourage him guys, not bash him.

i want to do something similiar with my xbox v1. Its only used a media centre and would like to turn it on and off just like any other piece of equipment. i know you can buy an addon to do it but i'm busy building one from scratch. should be the same for the ps2 - with a add on IR detector and a PIC wired to the power it should be easily do-able.

for u 2 jerks that cant say antying nice. STFU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for your info i am trying to help someone who is bed ridden right now.
running the cord across the room is too difficult with pets.

and the challenge is another thing.

you can use this for an xbox "cheaplpc.com/xir/default.asp"

but i wouild like to be able to do it with ps2.

with my xbox i have a 300 gig hd and filled with games and stuff and its nice to turn it on select what i want and reset with remote switching games.

i have v4 and i tried a dvd remote kit but that didnt work either.
i have my ps2 with a 300 gig drive setup full of games but cant reset like xbox.

    thanks for any help.

ps: does anyone have good component switcher in mind?

    i was looking at joytech

just get the old PS2 remote. Until V9 PS2's the remote came with a receiver that plugged into a mem card port.

your best bet if the on/off/eject remote is really important too you, just get a V9

I must say it is very convenient using the remote to reset the unit while using HDL
