    i know a guy who claims that he can "program" the PS2 to play back-up games w/o chipping it.
    is this true?
    need opinion from experts.

    well, since you can't write to the chip in the PS2, the only way to play a direct boot backup is a modchip. He probably is talking about hdloader or a method of swapping backup games, cdloader or the like. In either case, he didn't program anything. ><

    You need a friend with a modchip or some type of swap method to install the exploit via cd-r. Then you can use the memory card with the original psx game.

    you can also just make a slidecard, i don't recommend them, but they seem to work, i posted a picture in this thread here... hope it helps, and good luck

    Yeah, I'm aware of the existance of the swapcard. I don't recommend it though. But it's your PS2. =)

    there's also a way to make an open/close switch that bypasses the reset button, i haven't done it so i don't know how reliable it is but there is a post on it around here somewhere and it might be worth looking at...
