Trouble Disabling Modchip? Read This.. –
I was told that I had a Messiah 2 in my ps2, but it did not respond the way that it said when I was trying to disable the modchip (ie. hold in the reset button for 5 seconds).
I never did find out what type of chip this guy put in my machine, but I did discover a way to disable my chip for playing originals online....
I got a demo disc out of a ps2 magazine that never worked.
Every time I booted it up, I got to the 'Playstation 2' (white text screen), which would normally be followed by the game boot up, but instead ... took me to the RSOD.
It turns out, that at that point, my modchip becomes 'disabled'.
So, keepeing the power on, simply remove the demo disc, and replace it with the original of your choice.
You'll probably get the RSOD one more time, but open and close the tray a second time, and the game will boot up no problem.
I hope that this post helps at least one of you out there.
If there is anyone who knows what kind of modchip is prone to doing this, please let me know. I'd love to know what this guy put in my PS2
