    ver7 PS2 with a Magic2 mod. I had it installed for yrs and working fine. PLayed some games last night and went to go play this morning and it wont boot any game. The tray doesnt spin the disc. i took it apart to see if any wires of the modchip came off and everything is good. any ideas what to check for?

    Working only from memory the BA chip has two main ground points.
    And one of the other pins is also ground, if it truly dies, usually about 3 to 4 pins end up grounded. So start there and see how you go.

    yes with a multimeter.

    ''''''=''''''
    ''''''=''''''

    in the middle of the ba chip (the ba chip near the connection of the laser, not the one near the connection of the reset switch) are two well soldered parts of the chip, they are ground.

    hold one point of the multimeter there testing for continuity and the other point test on all the pins, if you find that you have multiple ground points (not including the two well soldered points) then the chip is blown. But this usually results in the motherboard not switching on.

    make sure you test the fuses that are located all over the board, but its my guess your laser died, they are like light bulbs, they can just die, blow, whatever. you may need to take it to someone to have a look at it for you.
    most mod people do free quotes on repairs.

    when RESET it pushed the lazer shots red, goes up and down. is that a bad laser?

    so are there 2 BA chips, cause i only seen the chip thats on the motherboard on the left side towards the top.

    i have checked all fuses and the ps13 is the one i dont get anything from

    hmm.

    If ps13 is not registering as ok (ie beep) when you test for continuity then that is a common part to go, you can try finding a replacement fuse, else what i did with my own was just replace it with a link (ie remove the fuse and put some wire between the two points where the fuse was) and pray the ba chip doesnt blow, wich is usually unlikely as others have done the same.

    ok i see the 2 BA chips and i have tested both of them. using my multimeter, when grounded, i get 1 chip leg on each side of each chip that gives me resistance. so is that OK? i soldered a jumper wire to each end of the ps13 fuse but i still get the same result of no spinning disc when powered on. so either i dont have a good soldered jumper on ps13 or there is somethingelse wrong. wasting too much time on this. Might be better to ebay another 39001 model and re-hook up my modchip.
