top mutiplayer games for ps2

I just got a ps2 and I will be getting a big screen tv soon, and planning to have buddies come over and play ps2 but I wanted to get a list of top multiplayer games I can get to play with them. I was thinking someone like gauntlet or counterstrike type games. Any good games for 2-4 people please tell me!

sports games (tiger woods, madden, nba, etc.)
champions of norath
champions of norath return to arms
alot more just think of them all right now

I think some good multi-player game, my favorites include: 007 Nightfire, Burnout revenge, Mortal Kombat, and sometimes the Warriors.

Ghost Recon original and Jungle Storm (co-op play is the 'sith')
Burnout Takedown (it's part of the game to miss the traffic)
Speed Kings (Great Burnout clone with motorcycles)

SW: BattleFront 1 and 2
Ghost Recon Jungle Storm (6 player co-op)

some of my favorite multiplayer (offline multiplayer) games for playstation 2 include:

James Bond 007: Nightfire - feels like a great Goldeneye upgrade with great controls, weapons, maps, and gameplay modes. Wish hit had a few more multiplayer maps though. Still an awesome game.

James Bond 007: Agent Under Fire
James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing - Includes a very fun cooperative mode.
SSX Tricky - Probably one of the best snowboarding games made to date
Timesplitters 3: Future Perfect
Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven - great cooperative mode
Soul Calibur 2
Tekken Tag Tournament
Fight Night: Round 3
Area 51
SSX On Tour
